Happy World Autism Awareness Day!
People all over the world are lighting up iconic buildings such as the Empire State Building and the Sydney Opera House in blue for the sake of autism awareness thanks to the Light It Up Blue Campaign by Autism Speaks.
World Autism Awareness Day doesn’t have to be about spreading shock and fear about autism spectrum disorders.
Today is a day to remember and value the strengths and capabilities of those on the autism spectrum and to educate and inform those who may not have had the lucky experience to be around someone with autism.
It’s about spreading the love. It’s about saying, so what if people are different? In the end, we all want acceptance.
Let’s remember it starts with awareness and continues with acceptance.
