2: Lisa Fraser: Inflatable vest helps autistic kids focus

Lisa worked with autistic children as a swim and art instructor for several years. She discovered Deep Pressure Therapy products such as the weighted vests, and saw critical need for improvement. Understanding first-hand the calming effects of pressure, she developed an inflatable therapy vest with Occupational Therapists to help many children with autism.

Inspiration:

 

Dani was the first autistic teenager to receive a Snug Vest. Before Dani received the Snug Vest, his dad would provide him with firm hugs every morning to reduce his stress before school and Dani would wear a tight leather jacket to school to help him with sensory issues. Things sure changed for Dani and his family after receiving the Snug Vest. Listen to the episode to hear how their life changed…

 

Lessons Learned:

 

Perseverance pays off. Dani had been waiting for the Snug Vest for over a year but the Snug Vest had to go through so much testing and research before it was ready for the autism community. All the hard work paid off!
